How your company can get the most out of RESO Workgroups

We are now preparing for the 2023 RESO Spring conference in San Antonio, Texas (April 18-20). This is a chance to revisit one of the many presentations from the 2022 RESO Fall conference, “How Your company can get the most out of RESO workgroups.” The presenters were Kristen Carr, Director of Partner Integrations and Industry Relations, and Donna Rauch (Vice President, Data Support).
The pair discussed the importance of the RESO community to their teams in building awareness about the standards and other issues moving through the RESO pipeline. WATCH THE VIDEO (23:33 minutes)
Carr stated that “RESO standards help define our technologies when creating something new.”
Carr and Rauch provided a unique framework for getting your employees and company involved in the right RESO groups. Carr and Rauch’s system rewards genuine involvement over participation. This is intended to counter the “we want what we need when we need it” mentality. They asked their teams three simple questions.
Which workgroup is the best for you?
This topic is fascinating.
Can this be made reportable and repeated?
Next, they created Salesforce accounts for each workgroup and added specific updates to their data and product team. Each account is owned by staff members and co-owned. Staff members report on each meeting and are notified when something is important. A quarterly report is also provided to the product team.
RPR was able to benefit from a strategy of getting more involved in RESO through the Working with Real Estate Data course (WWRED), which was created by the Broker Advisory Workgroup. RPR staff were early course critics, which strengthened their belief in the effectiveness of the course.
The course is a standard requirement for all new hires. It provides a fast onboarding process for new employees into complex data interactions in the industry. It provides an education in the various stakeholder facets of this industry, even for veterans. The course has been valued as a significant benefit for everyone involved, from senior management to call centers.
Another success story is the Internet Tracking Workgroup. Chris Lambrou, the chair of the workgroup and CTO at MetroMLS, met with RPR product managers in order to explain the concept. RPR is currently implementing an Internet Tracking Proof-of-Concept. This will offer something new to the real-estate community and also give RPR new insights into their products.
RPR’s Sam DeBord, RESO CEO, visits.
If you’re new to RESO workgroups the Data Dictionary Wiki, Product Updates web page, and the RESO Monthly workgroup highlights are all useful resources that help members keep up-to-date on what’s happening at RESO.
RESO staff are also available to discuss the details of workgroups. Rauch and Carr cited a conversation with Sam DeBord, CEO of RESO, as an energy infuser to further engagement.
Carr and Rauch concluded by stating that RESO staff and volunteers are available to help, that the community welcomes and is open to new ideas, and that RESO can be a great place for sharing obstacles and solutions.
